Update of the instructions from 11.12.2016
To configure and work with MAIL, WEB DNS, SSH, FTP servers we will install and Set up the hosting panel ISPConfig 3.
ISPConfig 3 One of the best free open source hosting control panels for Linux.
With the help of ISPConfig 3, we will get a web interface for working with server hosting services such as: Postfix, Apache2, Bind9, SSH, PureFTPd.
! Attention!!!
If you do not need any of the services:
To skip the installation of Postfix mail server with antivirus support, we do not install such programs:
dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d postfix postfix-mysql postfix-doc amavisd-new spamassassin clamav clamav-daemon zoo unzip bzip2 arj nomarch lzop cabextract apt-listchanges libnet-ldap-perl libauthen-sasl-perl clamav-docs daemon libio-string-perl libio-socket-ssl-perl libnet-ident-perl zip libnet-dns-perl
To skip the installation of DNS server Bind9 do not install programs:
bind9 dnsutils
To skip the installation of FTP server PureFTPd do not install programs:
pure-ftpd-common pure-ftpd-mysql
If you do not want to set quotas for users, then do not install packages:
quota quotatool
You will not provide any of the users. SSH, SFTP Access your server, then don’t collect the program. Jailkit.
Accordingly, we do not configure uninstalled programs in the relevant sections.
Let's start the installation.
For Debian Squeeze:
The operating system will be installed and configured by Debian Squeeze, installing the server according to the instructions: Install Debian Squeeze with detailed screenshots
For Debian Wheezy:
The operating system will be installed and configured by Debian Wheezy, installing the server according to the instructions: Install Debian Wheezy with detailed screenshots
After installation, go to the server via SSH using the Putty program using the instructions: Instructions for Putty and PSCP
Add a repository from which we will update and install software, make changes to the file /etc/apt/sources.list And then I did the command.
For Debian Squeeze:
echo 'deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ squeezy main contrib non-free deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ squeezy-backports main' > /etc/apt/sources.list
For Debian Wheezy:
echo 'deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ wheezy main contrib non-free deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ wheezy-backports main' > /etc/apt/sources.list
For Debian Jessie:
echo 'deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ jessie-backports main' > /etc/apt/sources.list
Start the repository update with the team:
aptitude update
Start the system update with the command:
aptitude safe-upgrade
Install the vim editor, the mc file manager and the screen program with the command:
aptitude install vim mc screen
You can make changes to configuration files with the help of the editor vi or with the mcedit editor, use what is more convenient for you. I use editor vi in the instructions.
Assume that the domain name of the main domain server.locWe make a domain name for the server. webserver.server.loc
In a standard installation, when the server received an IP automatically from the router, the network card of the server is configured to receive an IP automatically by DHCP and if there are 2 or more network cards, only one (the rest of the pens) is configured, we also need to change to a static IP in the file. /etc/network/interfacesFor this purpose, we make changes:
vi /etc/network/interfaces
was:
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system # and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5). # The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback # The primary network interface allow-hotplug eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp
became:
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).
# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
# Internet network
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.0.2
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.0.0
broadcast 192.168.0.255
gateway 192.168.0.1After making changes to the file /etc/network/interfaces restart the server network by executing the command:
/etc/init.d/networking restart
Editing the file /etc/hosts:
vi /etc/hosts
was:
127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.0.1 webserver webserver # The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts ::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback fe00::0 ip6-localnet ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix ff02::1 ip6-allnodes ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
became:
127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.0.2 webserver.server.loc webserver # The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts ::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback fe00::0 ip6-localnet ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix ff02::1 ip6-allnodes ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
Modify the file. /etc/hostnameTo change the Linux server name by executing commands:
echo webserver.server.loc > /etc/hostname /etc/init.d/hostname.sh start
To verify that the server name has been changed correctly, follow the commands:
hostname hostname -f
The system's response should be:
webserver.server.loc webserver.server.loc
In this instruction, we made the initial configuration of the network interface before installing the hosting panel. ISPConfig 3We added a repository to the server, updated it and launched an update to the latest versions of the installed software. Changed the Linux server name to webserver.server.loc
I was with you. Lazarenko Sergey.
It'll be a day-to-day run.
After work, you always need to rest a little, let’s take a moment to watch an exciting video and work at height. I couldn't do that kind of work, it's got to be totally crazy.
