In the article Home mini server room in the closet I showed some photos of my home server room in an old built-in closet. It's been a long time, I threw away the built-in wardrobe and made it a more decent closet. When designing a cabinet in the Pro100 program, I allocated the lower department for my devices as a place for a home mini server room. In the left part of the bottom of the cabinet made several round holes for ventilation, in the wall on the right made a large ventilation hole under 12 cm. A 12v computer cooler powered it from charging for a mobile phone on a 5v.
A few different versions of the arrangement of my equipment as we upgrade:
Here I use the Asus RT-N66U router, D-Link switch, and the old uninterruptible power unit as servers I have:
- Filewasher: self-assembled server on Debian
- Asterisk: Raspberri Pi
This option is in order to turn off the server in the summer in the heat and leave only the popberry, it normally keeps the temperature on passive cooling. The server gets overheated and starts to shut down. I came to the conclusion that it is better to use specialized NAS hardware from Synology, QNAP or D-Link. By the way, there is chaos in the wires, 3 providers enter the closet, I change them from time to time when they begin to increase the price at tariffs, wires to the balcony, kitchen, room, to the printer which stands as a network on the shelf above, city phone:
Here's a version of my mini server after updating the Asus router on Mikrotik, Raspberry Pi server on OrangePi, the uninterruptible power unit ordered a long life and was replaced by APC, wires are also in chaos, and what I came up with for fasteners is to buy a thermal pistol and glue them to the ceiling and cabinet walls. The glue itself, if necessary, is easily peeled off:
Here's a small, thermally glue pistol that I bought, put an on button on it:
He used the same gun to put his legs on the system to lay him down:
There's already chaos in the wires removed, which I liked, this idea with a thermal pistol, justified itself 100%.
This is the view of my server room, if you also have something to show from home server rooms, please share in the comments.
I was with you. Sergey Lazarenko.
